When I was very little, walking home one evening with my dad, I noticed the moon following us, and asked him about it. His reply, she's your guardian angel!
Your poem reminded me of that answer, and the faithful hope we all have to believe in something powerfully beautiful and most benevolent.
I confess that I have felt this way about faraway loved ones. "They are under the same moon tonight," I say to myself. It is something to hope for, to feel the connection even with the ones we don't naturally.
Yes, it takes pausing, I think, and finding how it fits the heart's cadence. This experience of the moon on my face at night while lying near a window is so powerful that I did want to submit to it, feel it and somehow write it. It may not work as I would like for others, but I felt that it worked for me.
I have seen the moon's face and felt how she tilts it toward earth with great love, not, alas, for myself, but yes for all of us, every creature here...thank you.
That same moon, everywhere, connecting
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful reality.

That is a wonderful answer, Rosaria, since children can be prone to fear at night. I was.
DeleteTo believe in connection is one thing — and I do. To feel the connection is quite another thing, something that, alas, I find very elusive.

ReplyDeletei note your line breaks,
how she loves
your face how
like your face
hers
and your lack of punctuation which leaves nothing divided - as it isn't divided, of course.)))
